Scuba diving has become one of the greatest recreational sports all around the world and can even be a profession.

What is Scuba diving?

The word 'Scuba' is the abbreviation of Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

Hence, it means swimming under water using SCUBA i.e. a cylinder of compressed gas to breathe (usually air, but sometimes other gases to stay underwater much longer, often for hours) and other equipments such as face masks, breathing regulators, buoyancy devices, fins and gauges.

Where can you go Scuba Diving?

Once you have learned enough to be comfortable as a diver, you will want to try out new locations.

There are several places around the world and even near wherever you live to go. If you live far from the ocean, you can find lakes and large rivers.

Where can I learn Scuba Diving?

Recreational diving is mostly self-regulated. However, many diving related sales and rental outlets require proof of diver certification from organizations such as PDIC (Professional Diving Instructors Corporation) or PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) prior to selling or renting certain products or services.

The reasons are based on the potential danger to divers who are not properly prepared.

Like any sport, scuba diving has special equipment. In fact, it requires perhaps more equipment than most other sports.

Dive resorts are facilities that cater exclusively to the enthusiast who wants a great hotel or comfortable accommodation as well as top notch diving services and facilities. Dive resorts often offer dive certification programs, daily excursions, qualified dive masters, gear and anything else one can think of.

Because of the nature of this activity, danger is a real concern. You are placing yourself in an unfamiliar environment (which is part of the fun!) and so you need not only training and good equipment, but you also need to know safety principles.

Why should I go through all the trouble?

Most would agree that it's for the sheer enjoyment of experiencing the underwater world. This world is a vastly unexplored environment for many people.

Be it the beautiful and brightly coloured marine life or the thrill of watching the power and grace of a school of sharks or discovering a cave and even artifacts such as a sunken ship, it is incredibly addictive because there are endless dive sites around the world.

You may find yourself migrating to a more specific type of dive. You may prefer a dive where you are able to float with the currents while relaxing and taking in the sights. On the other hand, getting the adrenaline rush as you move with hundreds of hammerhead sharks might be more to your liking.

If you are willing to truly open your eyes to the beauty of God Almighty's creation, take up Scuba Diving; visit our Scuba Diving Place for more information about all the topics above.
