White Water rafting

Adventure-travel-tales-and-tips.com is about extraordinary people seeking adventure in all corners of the Earth. Surely it would therefore be amiss not to include an article on Victoria Falls - arguably the Adventure Capital of the World.

Not only is this destination packed with adrenaline sports but there are a host of others activities for the less crazy folk.

Where else on this amazing planet of ours can you do all of these in one place??

* Gaze in awe at one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
* Stand on the edge of the largest waterfall in the world and get soaked by the never ending spray.
* White water raft on a grade five river - rated among the best in the world
* Bungee jump off one of the highest leaps in the world
* Body board down this same grade 5 river, definitely not for the faint hearted
* Fly across canyons on exhilarating zip wires
* Gorge swing ? a 70m free fall before a rope swings you up
* Take exhilarating helicopter flips over and around the Falls
* Walk with Lions
* Ride on African Elephants
* Micro light over unsurpassed beauty
* Play golf amongst the Warthog and Impala
* Fish on some of the best waters for the renowned Tiger Fish
* Cruise gently on the upper Zambezi river viewing prolific animal and birdlife
* Kayak above and below the Victoria Falls. Hopefully not in the same trip
* See the Big Five on an awesome African safari - spectacular game and scenery

The list does not end there, it goes on and on. Few would argue that this is the Adventure Capital of the World.

The magic and mystery of Africa is a disease that gets into your blood, those born here are already badly infected and those visiting will soon succumb to this incurable bug.

This bug has puzzled people for centuries many of them famous like David Livingstone the famous explorer, they felt compelled to come back again and again, each time the love becoming deeper than before, trapping them in a malady that defies description.

It has been said many times That once you have drunk the waters of the mighty Zambezi you will always be thirsty and will have to return. These symptoms are extraordinary, you cannot pin point exactly what they are, but your life will never be the same again, of that I can promise you.

It is deep within your heart, your senses are heightened and everything about life takes on a greater dimension. The red orb of a sun setting, the powerful reverberating roar of a male lion or the gentle call of a cape turtle dove in the still midday heat will grip your heart with such fury that you will be unable to stop talking of your African Experience.

You will find that the people seem to be from a bygone era - an era that one sometimes yearns for. A simpler life, yet a bigger life and a life not engrossed with modern day complications. These people have a spirit for Adventure almost as if they were Livingstone themselves. In essence they are explorers as Africa has not yet been tamed?...

My wife and I are Zimbabweans, we are passionate about our country and Victoria Falls. In the Mid eighties, I was among the first group of White Water Guides to take rafting trips down this unforgettable grade 5 river and prior to that I was a Canoe Guide on the Lower Zambezi River.

My wife Boo, at that time worked in the Safari booking agency and the Victoria Falls Hotel. Many of our friends and colleagues are the tour and safari operators today, a colorful bunch of characters dedicated to their way of life.

Our aim, via our website www.victoriafalls-guide.net is to pass on some of our local knowledge and experience, to make your holiday and adventure as rewarding and enjoyable as it could ever be.

Have fun? but don't say I didn't warn you !!!!
